It's against our Terms of Service and we do try and enforce that.""But, we all know that something will happen in the next two to five years to business models in general, so we'repaying attention to what's going on; watching what's going on with Sony Station whose servers support and managethis."Traditionally the "secondary market" works by players of an MMORPG going to a website like IGE.com, finding the gameand server they play on, checking the availability of currency or items, then buying them using real-life cash.They'll then have the money or bits and pieces delivered to them in-game by an anonymous source.A no-tolerance policy to "gold farming" is fairly common, and account suspensions or bans are well-documented inboth Final Fantasy XI and World of Warcraft. But Sony Online Entertainment is treading new ground with its first-party auction house called the Station Exchange, which gives EverQuest II players the option to "legally" purchasein-game assets. It gives SOE the opportunity to manage and moderate what goes on, as well as provide a secure andtrustworthy service.It begs the age old question of shouldn't some people be allowed to buy in-game clobber if they simply don't have asmuch time to pour into it as others? What about freedom of choice, etc?"That's the endless philosophical discussion," Steefel continues. "If I can find a way for every type of person inmy game to play the way they want to without adversely affecting anyone else, then that's win, win, win. 'Now, if you want that Writ, you'd best be hurrying along! Head north across the Bywater Bridge in Hobbiton, and you'll see the Grange right there to your left.'

Belco Brockhouse found a copy of the Founding Writ of the Shire, but will not give it up until he has received some services in return.


Objective 1

The sack of feed can be found on the Grange north of Hobbiton. Once you have picked up the feed, bring them back to Belco in Tuckborough.

Belco has told you that his pig, Old Sally, has a ravenous appetite, and that he needs more feed if he is to satisfy her. He has instructed you to go to the Grange and pick up a sack of feed.

Explore Middle-earth: Woodhall

The sleepy little hobbit-village of Woodhall lies within the forested arms of Woody End in the Eastfarthing of the Shire. Tucked away well off the Stock Road as it is, Woodhall

sees little traffic. Gossip tends to be a favorite pastime for the hobbits who dwell here, and travelers may want to avoid the occasional nosey hobbit if they find themselves

Characters of Middle-earth: The Witch-king of Angmar

In the latter days of the Second Age, nine kings of Men fell under the sway of Sauron, who promised them Rings that would give them great power. The greatest of the Nine was the Witch-king, a ruthless sorcerer who used his Ring to further his own personal ambitions. The Rings, however, were a trick, and corrupted them, drawing them from the living world and turning them into the Nazgûl, the Ringwraiths. The Witch-king became their Captain, and served Sauron until the Dark Lord's defeat in the war against the Last Alliance of Elves and Men.



For more than a thousand years after Sauron's disappearance, the Witch-king and the other Nazgûl disappeared from Middle-earth. When their master returned in disguise at Dol Guldur, however, they resurfaced, and the Witch-king travelled north to found the realm of Angmar and make war against the North-kingdom of Arnor. With an army of orcs, evil Men, and other foul creatures at his command, he corrupted the kingdom of Rhudaur, destroyed Cardolan, and brought down the great Tower at Amon Sûl. Finally, his forces besieged Fornost, the capital of Arthedain, and conquered the North-kingdom at last.



His victory was short-lived, however, for an army of Men and Elves, led by Eärnur of Gondor and the Elf-lord Glorfindel, joined the survivors of Arnor and made war on the Fields of Fornost, west of the once-proud city. The armies of Angmar were destroyed, and the Witch-king fled south to Mordor. Angmar fell to ruin, but Glorfindel prophesied that while the Witch-king was defeated, his doom would not come for some time, and not at the hand of man.

Not long after his return to Mordor, the Witch-king and his Nazgûl besieged the Gondorian city of Minas Ithil and captured it. He renamed it Minas Morgul and made it his new stronghold. In the millennium since that time, he has caused no end of trouble for Gondor, including the disappearance and presumed death of Eärnur and repeated attacks on Osgiliath.



Recently, however, the Witch-king left Minas Morgul, travelling with his Ringwraiths in secret back to the lands of Eriador, where he met his defeat long ago. Few know what his purpose is, but fear and woe follow in his wake. It can be no coincidence that Angmar itself, long thought barren and emptied, is now emerging as a new threat to peace in the North....

LOTR Online Unseats WoW

The Lord of the Rings Online is enjoying a strong start right out of the gate. Publisher Midway and developer Turbine have announced the game was the best-selling PC title in North America the week of April 22-28, the week of its release. The data comes from the most recent sales info from market-research firm the NPD group.
LOTR Online beat out long-running champ World of Warcraft and fellow newcomer Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars to seize the top spot.
"This outstanding start sets the stage for a bright future," said Jeffrey Anderson, president and CEO of Turbine. "This is only the beginning as we embark on an incredible journey with our players to expand the world of Middle-earth with the release of regular content updates."
"Following the most successful North American pre-order program in Midway's history, The Lord of the Rings Online is off to a great start," added Steve Allison, chief marketing officer, Midway.
In addition to North America, Midway says The Lord of the Rings Online was also the best-selling PC game in Europe during the same period, based on data from the UK's Chart-Track, France's GfK, and Germany's Media Control.
